Manitoba is one of Canada’s western Prairie provinces that is built upon generations of rich agricultural production. The province’s main city is Winnipeg, with Ontario on its east and Saskatchewan on the west.
The Manitoba Provincial Nominee Program is a PNP is a cluster of different immigration pathways that enable foreign nationals to become Canadian permanent residents. The program is strategically designed in order to attract immigrants in areas which will benefit the province; these include skilled workers, workers in sectors with labour shortages, recent graduates and even agricultural entrepreneurs.
The province of Manitoba operates different immigration streams that can be divided in four categories, namely:
It should be noted that Manitoba underwent significant changes throughout 2018 and 2019. It is suggested to also refer to the MPNP Renewal details for detailed information.
This category consists of 3 immigration streams specifically designed to target workers with employment experience or offers of employment in Manitoba. For this stream, at the time of the application, the candidates must be currently living and working in Manitoba. However, in some cases, the candidates may get an invitation to apply after their recruitment session with MPNP overseas. The immigration streams in this category are:
This category includes 3 immigration streams especially designed to target skilled workers with ability to join Manitoba’s workforce. They must also be able to adapt easily to life in the province. The streams of this category give priority to workers with experience in Manitoba’s In-Demand Occupations.
This stream is targeted towards recent graduates from designated post-secondary institutions in Manitoba. The candidates must have at least some amount of work experience or business management experience from the province. The work experience can be gained after completing graduation or during the program of study (as an internship or co-op). The pathways within this stream are:
This stream is the accumulation of 2 immigration streams designed for individuals who have experience in business management and wish to launch a new business in Manitoba. While the Entrepreneur stream is for general entrepreneurs with business proposals in different sectors, the Farm Investor stream is for entrepreneurs in the farming sector.
Many streams of the MPNP prioritize candidates with work experience in one of the province’s in-demand occupations. Though it is not a mandate for all the streams, it may give the candidate an advantage for selection in certain cases.
It should be noted that French speakers are eligible for MPNP without having any experience in an in-demand occupation.
Here is the list of Manitoba In-Demand Occupations.
