The Regional Occupation List allows employers to sponsor overseas workers to live and work in Australia for up to 4 years for the sponsoring employer in a specified region.

To respond to changes in the Australian labour market and regional variations across Australia, the list is reviewed regularly by the Department of Jobs and Small Business.

Obviously, some of the occupations have also been removed from the list. Thankfully, it won’t affect the individuals with removed occupations unless there are changes in the circumstances that require the lodgement of a new nomination application. It clearly means that pending nomination and/or visa applications will not be adversely impacted by the subsequent removal of any occupation from the skilled occupation lists.
