Good News for Partner Visa in Federal Budget 2020-21

As various rules and regulations keep changing with time, the Australian Government has brought in a few changes in Partner Visa this time. The partner visa applicants in Australia have something to cheer about in 2020-21 as the Federal Budget has increased the number of places under this visa. Per the news, it has been increased from 47,000 to 72,300.

Furthermore, according to the sources, preference will be given to onshore applicants and whose sponsor presently lives in any of the designated area in Australia. All this will mean speedier processing of applications and less of waiting time.

However, there is another change that may not be considered as welcoming by the Partner Visa applicants. The new applicants along with their PR sponsors will need to demonstrate functional level of English, ending 2021.

Alternatively, they may prove that they tried to learn the language reasonably well, which could be done by completing 500 hours under the AME (Adult Migration English) Program.
