The Australian federal government has recently announced an inquiry into the “integration, employment and resettlement” of refugees and humanitarian migrants in Australia.

Applying for ACT nomination of a Skilled Nominated visa is a two-stage process. First, you must formally express an interest in applying for ACT 190 nomination by completing a score-based ‘Canberra Matrix’.

According to a report, the country could cut down on the number of migrants; however, it is also reported that it may prefer to give more chance to skilled workers as compared to the unskilled ones.

International students in Melbourne have been reportedly receiving ‘warning letters’ from Focus Learning lately. The Immigration Magazine’s Jason Watt was recently contacted by one such student.

The ACT 190 Nomination program will reopen on 29 November 2018 with a new process for determining nominated applicants. It is intended to help address the specific skills shortages in the ACT. The number of available visa nominations this year is 800.
